About Home Kickstarter

At Home Kickstarter, we know that the dream of home ownership feels out of reach for many Australians. Rising house prices, higher living costs, and strict bank lending rules make saving a deposit harder than ever. We created Home Kickstarter to change that.

Our origins are simple: we wanted to give first-home buyers a fair shot at owning a home. That meant creating a savings plan that works in today’s economy, building strong partnerships with builders and lenders, and ensuring first-home buyers had access to every grant and incentive available.

Our Mission

To empower first-home buyers to achieve their dream of home ownership through structured savings plans, financial education and comprehensive support.

Why We Exist

In recent years, the average price of a new home has risen sharply, leaving thousands of Australians locked out of the property market. The general increase in the cost of living including rents, utilities, groceries, insurance and other living expenses has made saving a deposit for your first home even tougher. This has pushed the great Australian dream of home ownership out of reach for many people.

Home Kickstarter has created a program to help everyday Australians save a 5% deposit and buy their first new home.

What is Home Kickstarter?

No. Home Kickstarter is an independently owned consultancy that works with builders, mortgage brokers, lenders and a registered law firm. Each partner provides its specialist services, including home construction, finance assessment and legal support.
No. You can complete an eligibility check before you have saved a deposit. Our program is designed to help eligible first-home buyers build their savings through a structured plan. Your starting point will depend on your income, existing commitments and ability to save.
Our Eligibility Form asks about your household income, loans, credit card limits, credit history, dependants and residency status. We use this information for an initial assessment of whether the program could suit your circumstances.
Yes, you can complete the Eligibility Form and include these commitments. We consider the information as part of your overall circumstances. Completing the form does not guarantee eligibility, and any home loan will require a separate lender assessment.
You can contact us again if your circumstances change. Changes to your income, savings or financial commitments may affect your eligibility. Let our team know when you would like your circumstances reassessed.
We review your information and, if you meet the initial eligibility criteria, contact you to arrange a 30-minute appointment. This gives you time to understand the program, what is required and the next steps before deciding whether to proceed.
We explain how the program works, discuss what would be required of you and answer your questions. You can choose a phone call, video call or face-to-face appointment when our team contacts you to arrange a time.

Have a general overview of your income, regular expenses, existing debts and savings, along with any questions you would like answered. It also helps to think about where you would like to live and when you hope to buy.

A Personalised Savings Plan sets out regular contributions towards your home deposit. It gives you a savings target and a structure to follow, based on your budget and home-buying goals. Contributions are made weekly or fortnightly under your agreed plan.

Savings plans are available from $200 per week. Your contribution and savings target will depend on your budget, the deposit required and your circumstances. We discuss these with you when developing your Personalised Savings Plan.

Your savings plan is managed by our partner, Cobalt Law, which opens an account for you with a major bank. You deposit your agreed weekly or fortnightly savings contributions into that account.

The timeframe depends on your starting savings, regular contributions and deposit target. Your eligibility for grants or builder incentives can also affect the amount you need to save. There is no single timeframe that applies to every buyer.

Contact our team if your income, expenses, employment or family circumstances change. Your savings plan and eligibility may need to be reviewed. If you are concerned about meeting an upcoming contribution, speak with us to discuss your situation.

Eligible buyers may be able to access a home loan with a deposit as low as 5%. This depends on the lender, the property and any applicable scheme requirements. Your mortgage broker or lender will assess which options are available to you.

We help you understand the first-home buyer grants, government schemes and builder incentives that may be available to you. Eligibility and available support depend on your circumstances, the property you choose and the conditions of each scheme or offer.

The program focuses on new house and land packages through our builder partners. We discuss available options with you based on your budget and preferred location. Packages and locations are subject to availability.

No. Program eligibility is an initial assessment based on the information you provide. A lender must separately assess your finances, ability to repay and the property before approving a home loan. Participation in the program does not guarantee finance approval.
